In the process of selling dehumidifiers, we often encounter end customers asking us, does the dehumidifier have a filter? Is this filter suitable for use in places with a lot of dust?

Conventional filter

Appearance and description

Both commercial dehumidifiers and industrial dehumidifiers use this conventional filter, please refer to the picture.

This filter is very easy to clean, can be used for more than 10+ years, and can block large particles of debris flying in the air in most applications.

Take out and clean

As long as you open the air intake grille, you can take out the filter directly, the operation is very simple.

It is recommended to clean the filter screen regularly after 1-3 months of use. Specifically, you can arrange the frequency of cleaning according to the dust situation in your place of use. If it is dirty, you can  increase the frequency of cleaning.

Operation method: Take out the filter screen and spray some cleaning agent. Rinse with water and let dry.

 Upgrade the filter

Appearance and description

The filter screen of this dehumidifier has been upgraded and it is recommended to use it in dusty places.

Q: You may know that there is dust in our factory. How to deal?

A: For the high dust, we recommend the updated filter, as the photo shows. It can filter >=5 um dust.

This upgraded filter has a certain thickness, so it is changed to a pull-out design for easy removal and replacement.

Take out and clean

This filter is used in places with a lot of dust, so it needs to be cleaned more frequently. It is recommended to clean it once a month or so to prevent dust from blocking the air inlet. Otherwise, it will affect the normal work of the dehumidifier. If there is a lot of dust, it is recommended to clean it once a week.

Operation method: Pull out the upgraded filter screen, use a small tool holder, such as tweezers, to clamp out larger debris. And then use a high-pressure dust blowing gun to blow away the dust on the filter screen.

The hazards of not cleaning the filter screen in time

If the filter screen of the dehumidifier is not cleaned in time, a large amount of dust will accumulate and the capacity of the dehumidifier will decline. When the air inlet of the dehumidifier is completely blocked, it will be completely unable to suck in the humid air from the outside. And the interior is overheated, the fault code E8 is displayed. During dust accumulation, the components of the dehumidifier will also be blocked by dust. So that result in the inability to dissipate heat and malfunction.

Case: An industrial dehumidifier that has never been cleaned. And  then returned to the factory for maintenance has failed.

When: Dehumidifiers used during 2019-2022.

Project: Applied to engineering projects in China. Before the underground parking garage is delivered. It is used for dehumidification when the ground is polished.

Description: When the engineering project progressed, the environment was very dusty, and the engineering party had never cleaned the dehumidifier. The dehumidification effect of the dehumidifier was very poor. So it was shipped back to the factory for paid cleaning and maintenance services.

This is a very extreme case. The environment of the dehumidifier used in our general scene will not have so much dust, except for engineering projects under construction or individual places with high dust. Therefore, when we use a dehumidifier, we must take precautions and clean the filter screen regularly.
