When you purchase a cigar cabinet humidifier and prepare to use it, do you have a series of doubts in your mind, such as: How often should I add water? What kind of water should I use? Are there any precautions when adding water?

Don’t worry, I believe that after reading this article, all of these questions will be answered.

How often to refill humidor humidifier?

The frequency of adding water to the cigar humidifier mainly depends on the volume of the cigar cabinet, the size of the humidifier’s water tank, and the usage conditions of different customers, including the climate environment and temperature and humidity conditions. I recommend adding water approximately every 2-3 weeks.

If you want a more comprehensive understanding of our cigar cabinet humidifiers, below, we will provide detailed explanations regarding the specific models of cigar cabinet humidifiers and their water addition situations.

YC-100(10.0) & YC-100(10.1)Large Water Tank Cigar Cabinet Humidifiers

For these two models, water needs to be added approximately every 2 to 3 weeks.

The main difference between the YC-100(10.0) Classic and YC-100(10.1) Premium lies in the design of the water inlet. Their water tank sizes are actually the same, with a capacity of 4.8L / 10.14 pints when filled to the optimal water level.

Compared to other cigar cabinet humidifiers on the market, this is already at the MAX level of water tank capacity. The advantage of this large water tank is evident: it can be used for a long time after each refill, saving the hassle of frequent water refilling.

YC-100(10.2) Automatic Water Inlet Cigar Cabinet Humidifier

This model, as its name suggests, doesn’t require you to add water manually.

YC-100(10.2) Auto-Fill is specifically designed for customers who forget to add water or want to save time on water refilling. Once you install the water inlet system upon receiving the humidifier, you no longer need to remember when to add water because it can be done automatically. Isn’t that great?

YC-200(3.0) Small Water Tank Cigar Cabinet Humidifier

YC-200(3.0) requires water to be added approximately every 1 to 2 weeks.

This model is the smallest in our current cigar cabinet humidifier series. When filled to the optimal water level, it can hold a volume of 1.1L / 2.32 Pints. It is especially suitable for small cigar cabinets dedicated to storing precious cigars, as well as for customers who have a dedicated small cigar room at home.

How do you determine if the cigar humidifier needs to be refilled with water?

When you first start using the cigar cabinet humidifier, it’s recommended to check the water level gauge every 5-7 days. The optimal range is between 5.8 and 8 on the gauge. If it drops below 5.8, it’s time to refill the water. Before adding water, always check the reading on the water level gauge. Also, remember the time you added water to your cigar cabinet, so you can understand the water replenishment pattern.

Cigar cabinet humidifiers can be customized in height, and the optimal water level varies for different height dimensions. When you receive a new humidifier, make sure to check the optimal water level range values indicated in the instruction manual.

Can I continue to add water to the cigar cabinet humidifier if there is still water inside?

You can. As long as the real-time water level is below 8, you can add water. Make sure that the water level after adding water is within the optimal range. It’s completely fine to add water multiple times!

However, please note: Do not let the water level exceed 8, as this could cause water to overflow from the water tank and damage the fan!

What kind of water should I add to the cigar cabinet humidifier?

It is recommended to use distilled water. Never use tap water or other types of water to prevent mineral buildup, which can damage both the cigar humidifier and your beloved cigars.

What should I pay attention to when adding water to the cigar humidifier?

1)Do not overfill the cigar humidifier

If you exceed the recommended optimal water level indicated in the instruction manual while adding water, the water level may submerge the fan, leading to the burning out of the fan. If there are no backup humidifiers or humidification solutions available, it could potentially damage all the cigars in the entire cigar cabinet.

It’s better to add a little less water than to risk adding an excessive amount.

2)Be mindful of the position of the water inlet and avoid spilling water onto the fan.

During the water refilling process, carefully pour the water into the water inlet. Do not spill water onto the top fan, as this could potentially damage the fan.

3)Turn off the cigar cabinet humidifier when adding water

When adding water to your cigar cabinet humidifier, make sure to first turn off the humidifier. This is to prevent any accidental splashing of water onto the power connection or fan vents, which could pose a safety hazard.

After completing the water refill, can you immediately add cigars to the cigar cabinet?

After adding water, wait for at least 24 hours before adding cigars to your cigar cabinet. The humidity inside the cabinet does not immediately rise after adding water; it undergoes a slow humidification process. Therefore, it’s best to wait until the humidity inside gradually increases before adding cigars.
